I have always been passionate about making the world a better place, especially for people who have had a rough time of it. Family lore has it that when I was 4 years old, I dug up some arrowheads in our back yard, then threw a fit when I found out that Native Americans used to live on our land. My father tells me that I stood on a kitchen chair, hands on hips, chin out & INSISTED insisted that we give our house back to the Indians!

That fire burns no less brightly today.

I’ve been working in the non-profit sector since I graduated from college. In 1999 — after more than a decade of working for individual non-profits — I established my own consulting company so I could exercise my passion on a larger playing field.

Since then, I’ve had the honor of helping more than 200 agencies raise more money, build stronger & more dynamic boards, chart a course for an exciting future & promote themselves in a more consistent & strategic way. My goal is to help non-profits integrate best practices into their daily operations & in doing so, burn brighter than ever before. I also write blogs, articles, teach, run workshops & make presentations at conferences in an effort to share my strategies & ideas with a larger audience.

My mission? Quite simple: to help you be unstoppable.

Why? Because there are simply too many people that are depending on you to fulfill your mission.

So, here’s the part where I tell you all about what I bring to the table:

When I’m not consulting, writing or presenting, I’m teaching. At present, I’m an adjunct faculty member at Clark University, but I’ve also taught at Boston University School of Social Work, Worcester State College, Assumption College, and UMass-Boston.

My number one priority in life is being a great Mom to my 19 year old son, who is a pretty amazing kid (and yes, I’m completely biased in that department! 😉 ) When I get some down time, I like to cook, do crafts (knitting, papercraft), and take photos.

My name Christine Covino & I’m the Special Projects Manager here at New Era. I work closely with Sarah to help nonprofits trust their instincts & hone their skills so they can sizzle! Our goal is to strengthen the entire sector so we can all make the world a better place.

While getting my B.A. and M.P.A. at Clark University, I worked with non-profits of all sizes, with a variety of missions, doing everything from maintaining social media pages & conducting in-depth academic research, to writing grants & setting out cheese & crackers for donor events.

I love storytelling! Whether it’s through ballet, song, or poetry, I love to use marketing & social media as a vehicle for telling a story. YOUR story. Using social media to create a community of passionate supporters for an organization is incredibly important, but I also believe in efficiency and simplicity; social media doesn’t need to be complicated!

In my spare time, I like to travel, read blogs & books, play & listen to music, collect celebrity autographs (highlights include Barack Obama, Billy Crystal & the entire cast of Seinfeld) & daydream while staring out the window.
